Happy Monday...oh wait

 I had Monday off this week so this feels like Monday to me! Why are they so hard?! haha Anyway I do like to try to kick off my work week with a quick morning post before headin to the grind..so here is a cake I made a while back for the sweetest little boy!! He was so excited when he saw it!!! :)







This is the second sort of vehicle cake that I've done, and I like to think that I've learned a lot since the last one. Which was the dump truck cake from last Christmas. (Which...I was not 100% happy with) I love this truck!!! I made sure the cake was raised off the board so the wheels could fit in there, and I have a new found attention to detail.

 Since I am a self taught cake decorator it's been somewhat of a slow process. There are certain structural elements that I didn't understand when I started. After a few near disaster cakes I've realized that cake cannot and will not support itself..haha

I have so many new things that I'm working on these days!! I cannot wait to share them with you!!

 So after the success of the cake topper baby shoe, I thought : What about a cake pop?!?

Here it is. They're a little big ...and chubby....but babies I kinda chubby...so it works...haha :)

Baby shoe trial #1

 Wow! Hello everyone. Its been....almost a lifetime since I posted... I have been busy! And all my social media, except facebook, has been left behind!!!  I'm still here though!! And I have so many things to show you!! :)


First, I found a baby shoe tutorial, http://cakejournal.com/tutorials/how-to-make-baby-shoes/ And thought I'd give it a go.




They took quite a bit of time this first time. But they are REALLY cute!! And inspiring. I really enjoy tutorials!! :) so there will be more to come!!

 Of course I had to make a cake to put these little cake toppers on! ...I'm not a fan of the cake part...but the shoes!!! :D

Pokemon cupcakes

 You probably don't know that I was a pokenerd when I was young....Aaaand sometimes I still play (It's addicting and they're just so cute!!! You gotta catch 'em all!! ;) )

Anyway... They were a birthday surprise for someones grandson on his birthday. When I asked her what his favorite Pokemon were she became a little baffled, unaware of just how many there are. I told her to just leave it to me!!! Haha that I know my way around Pokemon! (Such a dork!)

 Though they were for her grandson, when I dropped them off for her at work her office also loved them!! Especially her boss! So she ordered more for the following week!  Pokemon take 2! I did the same Pokemon over, but as with everything else practice makes perfect...so I like these ones a little better. :)

Golf Cupcakes

 I wish Monday mornings were less cruel. It is rough!! Hahah  What better way to pull myself out of Monday funk than to post!! :D

These cupcakes were (as you can see) for a 65th birthday party! :) They were a lot of fun to make. Surprisingly they were my first golf theme cupcakes. I say it's surprising because pretty well every male in my family golfs!! But it's never come up before!

Since I was making golf theme cupcakes, I made an extra dozen for my step dads birthday too!! :) (He's the biggest golfer of them all!!)

Guitar Cake / Happy Saturday

  Soooo....looks like the blog kinda got away from me for a couple weeks. I have been BUSY!  Orders are coming in PLUS I'm getting ready for my first show! Mollys Mixing Bowl will be a vendor at Sass Events & Bridal Show on September 8th!!!!! :D I'm excited and have not stopped working for about 2 weeks now. Getting everything in order for the big day ;)

 Anyway, this cake was from early July. I made it for my father-in-law for his birthday. This is his guitar.well... my sweetened up version of his guitar anyway! He plays a black fender strat in a number of bands around town. I am proud to say that he was crazy happy about this cake!!! He kept saying 'It looks just like my guitar!! ' :) JUST what I wanted to hear!
 To make this cake I sort of tried to copy a cake I found on google and I tried to make it my own cake by adding some different / extra details. Like the cake I modeled mine after I did use ribbon for the strings. But everything else was edible.

It was a great day!!

 Happy Saturday everyone! I hope you had a great day! I made 10 dozen mini cake pops today for the bridal show and now I'm just trying to catch up on my social media sites before bed. Next up: Tumblr...then maybe pinterest...maybe not though...gettin pretty sleepy.

Lattice Flower Cake

 I made this cake one day just to try something out. And it totally worked!  The flower  is made of royal icing! I love this cake! I think it is SO cute!

As a practice cake I didn't really have anyone to just give it to...so i had a slice...and then brought it to my mums.  Haha I suppose there's always someone who will take a practice cake ;)

I'd really like to make another cake like this. Maybe bigger. More flowers. And a butterfly!! :) Stay tuned!! :)

Hello Kitty

 Happy weekend!!!

Here is another teeny tiny cake! Hello Kitty this time for a 2nd birthday :) So cute!!

 I haven't been overly busy with cakes during the summer months. A part of me is pretty sad about it, and the rest of me is enjoying the time off. Hopefully things pick up again in the fall though :D

Angry Birds

 Hello everyone. It's Thursday! The work week is almost over!! You're almost there!!!! A cake to celebrate!!! Well...this was a 3rd birthday celebration cake..but you get it haha. I haven't done angry birds in a little while. There were a couple orders in a row quite some time ago and I thought 'I don't want to do any more angry birds!' haha But here we are. And I found that I didn't loath those teeny tiny aggressive birds!! Hahaha. I had fun with the cake! You can really put those birds and pigs everywhere. (The piggies are my favorite!)

This is a 6" cake. They seem to be a popular size..and that is a-okay with me. I think they're so darn cute!!! :)  I have a few more waiting to be blogged and I just love them ahaha.

HBD Mom

In order to brighten the morning, a cute little cake should do. I made this for my mum on her birthday! :)(July 4) It was just a small cake (they're were only 5 of us), and it was juuuust right :)

Over the past couple years I find myself looking for flowery cakes to make mom on her birthday! She spends so much time making her garden look perfect that flowers seem entirely appropriate! :D I wonder what kind of cake I'll do next year?!
