Wedding Cookies

As some of you know I have been frequently the bridal show seen :) So far I've done 3. I have 2 more so far this year and a craft show coming up. I love doing the shows,  if gives me a chance to really get myself out there (a task that is very daunting) A chance to get started in the wedding side of cakes :)

I was (and love to) experimenting with different ideas for wedding take aways, and these were my first wedding cookies. I also wanted to try out sugar veil. For those who don't know it's a a sugar mixture that you can place in moles (such a lace) and when it comes out its is a nice flexible, edible, sugar product that can be wrapped around cakes, and cookies and cake pops. It's very pretty! The trouble with this product is that the moulds are very expensive, and I only have one heart mould! It makes six hearts at a time and it takes a very very long time to dry! Overnight! So unless I get a few thousand more of these moulds, (lol) the cookies can't really become part of my cookie line up.

Sure are pretty though :)

As per my norm, this cake is from December...Only 4 months ago....yeesh! Eh, better late than never ;) I'm really working on catching up from 2013, I've got some great things to show you from this year so far and we're heading into April! So many more cakes and treats to come! I've booked 3.5 weddings this summer!!! It's going to be a great year for MMB!

This cake was fun to do, I struggled a little with getting the shape of the cake right, but it turned out pretty well I thought. It was the first time I tried to do the character art by drawing on fondant with edible markers. I like the effect. (I just made a cake today-no spoilers- all the are around the cake is drawn like this one, and I cannot wait to share that cake! It's perfect if I may say so :) )

Tonight, I'll be trying my hand at macarones... I'm excited about trying them (I have no idea what to expect..) and I'm a little nervous about how they'll turn out. First try can't be perfect though :)

Happy baking! ;)

This little lady, through her grandma, has become one of my best customers. Here we have the cake and cupcakes from her baptism, and then her first birthday!

What I love most about these orders is the constant use of pink! :) I love little girly cakes!

This birthday cake was fun. She wanted pink and purple with butterflies, so I tried something new. I wanted a pink to purple gradient with the butterflies...took a lot of butterflies :) turned out to be pretty cute...from some angles it looks a little pointy hahah

Happy Monday!

Simple C-cakes

These pink 35's are a simple way to celebrate a birthday be it special or ....who am I kidding! They're all special!

If anyone knows me, they know that on MY birthday I like to be the princess! :) Most people like to take the day off work...not this girl. I'd rather go to work with a birthday tiara on so everyone knows it my birthday! I don't want to stay home alone!! :D This year on my birthday, I will be newly married! (Literally, the day before my birthday) and getting on a plain to a surprise destination honey moon chosen by my hubby to be :) I will indeed be a princess this year!! :D

Speaking of special birthdays!! Tomorrow my dear ol dad turns 5-0! That's a big birthday!! Hmmmm....what shall I bake for him?! ....

1st Gender Reveal Cake :)

This sweet cake was for a friend of mine a number of months ago :) she was so excited about her gender reveal party that she didn't even find out the sex of her baby! She had the ultrasound tech put it in an envelope that she brought right to me! She didn't even peak!! I don't know if I could handle that kind of suspense! haha :)

It's a girl!! :D Mom and baby are home and happy and all is well :) Congrats Mel on your super sweet bundle of joy ;)

Construction Cake

I love the colour of this cake! It's so sweet for a little boy.  We pulled the idea for the cake from some simple wall decals :) I added some special touches, with the construction tape (this part is my favourite) and the pylons :)

Lets Celebrate "Spring" ...

March is the beginning of the end of winter :) ...Usually... Looks like this year is going to be a little different. So all you winter lovers, play on! What better way to do that than with snowboard cupcakes!

I commend anyone who can snowboard. I say 'can' because it is NOT as easy as they make it look! I've only tried once...and it was rough! Fun! But very rough. My fiancé and I, every winter, say that we're going to start snowboarding/skiing, but I don't think it's ever going to happen...for one, I don't really care for winter..haha and two.. I also don't like being cold and it's a fun thought. I'll leave the snowy slopes for those who can utilize them correctly. Hahah I'll stay in my nice warm kitchen with these sugary snowboards :)
Keep warm everyone :)

9th birthday cupcakes

Happy March everyone! ...

These cupcakes are pretty self explanatory! Right?! I really like the colours she chose for her birthday boy. And when you don't have a strong birthday party theme, these are a good way to personalize. :)
